NFL’s Seattle Seahawks Get CX Lift with Extreme Networks Enhancements: “Can You Hear the 12th Man Now?”

seattle seahawks picAmong NFL franchises, the Seattle Seahawks certainly do not have a problem getting fans engaged. The reigning Super Bowl Champions’ adaptation of the “12th man” ideal has fostered one of the most ravenously loyal fan bases and overall attendee experiences in football. A Seahawk, however, can always fly higher.

Recently, Extreme Networks, Inc. announced a partnership with the Seattle Seahawks franchise and Verizon Wireless to build a more digitally connected fan experience through best-in-class Wi-Fi at CenturyLink Field. The partnership will improve high-speed Internet connection for high-density stadium attendance.

In addition to the high-speed Internet that fans and consumers have come to expect at sporting events, the partnership will provide app featrues such as live video streaming through its “Eye of the Hawk” enhancement, which can project fan’s experiences in the stadium.

“The Seahawks are excited to work with Verizon and Extreme Networks to bring the best Wi-Fi solution to our fans at CenturyLink Field,” Peter McLoughlin, President, Seattle Seahawks, said in a release. “By Enhancing connectivity throughout the entire stadium, it allows us to offer new mobile app features such as live video streaming, and ‘Eye of the Hawk’. This allows fans to select live feeds from around the stadium along with coverage of live on-the-field action from multiple camera angles, replays and game highlights.”

Critics of digital engagement at NFL games may scoff at technologies drawing attention away from the field and to a pixelated screen. However, these enhancements are meant to deliver a connected fan experience that is supplemental to – not in place of – the typical game day experience.

“An immersive and connected fan experience at games continues to be a significant goal for the NFL,” Michelle McKenna-Doyle, Senior VP and CIO, NFL, said in a release. “We are marching into the future of stadiums and technology and through Extreme Networks and Verizon, the Seahawks will be able to provide and engaging experience for their dedicated fans.”

Extreme Networks, recently named the Official Wi-Fi Analytics Provider of the NFL, has already deployed similar game day fan experience enhancements for the Cincinnati Bengals, Tennessee Titans, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
