Loyalty programs have been around a long time.  Over the years there have been many new innovations in rewards options including online travel, gift cards, electronic gift cards and digital/media products. While, merchandise has long been believed to be the most engaging reward categories, merchandise reward capabilities have remained largely unchanged since the 1970s – with providers sourcing preferred relationships with category vendors, static inventory and limited product selection.
